Meet Our Staff
Ned D. Ammons, CSW, LSW
Ned has been with Red Cedar Canyon as the Director since October 2014. He is married to Jenny who is a nurse in the field of geriatrics. They have two daughters, Melanie who is a senior in high school and plans to attend the University of Wisconsin – River Falls and majoring in elementary education and Miranda who attends the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire pursuing her RN with the plan to go on to be a nurse practitioner. Ned earned his bachelor’s degree in Social Work with a Minor in Gerontology and emphasis in Medical Terminology from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. He has experience in Long-term care, Transitional Care, Hospice, Pharmacy and Assisted Living / Memory Care management. Additionally, Ned has dedicated his entire professional career to Geriatrics. His guiding principles are, “At the end of the day did I do the right thing” and, “Would I allow my parents to live here.” If Ned cannot answer yes to these questions and/or his team cannot answer yes to these questions for themselves, then he has no business asking another person to place their loved one in a senior property that he manages. Ned’s focus is to always exceed customers’ expectations!
Office Manager / Administrative Assistant
Tracey has worked at Red Cedar Canyon for 11 years and has “worn many hats” during this tenure. She began as a resident caregiver and eventually transitioned into supporting community programming/activities. After several years in that position, Tracey moved into a position where she could utilize many of her organizational and business skills to support the community. Currently, Tracey works as the administrative assistant and manages the front-desk, handles account payables & receivables, prepares and sends out monthly resident invoices, develops caregivers work schedules, provides new employee orientation and oversees any human resource items.
Outside of work, Tracey is a busy mother of 6 children ranging between 15 years and as young as a toddler. Tracey enjoys spending quality time with her family; and when provided a moment alone, Tracey likes going for walks, watching movies, and shopping.
Jackie Paulson, LPN
Cedar Cove / Memory Care Nurse Manager
Jackie works fulltime in our memory care unit (Cedar Cove) as the unit manager. She has been a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for 35 years, specializing in geriatrics and specifically dementia. Therapeutic Recreation Director
Berit is the Therapeutic Recreation Director at Red Cedar Canyon. She feels very fortunate to be able to work and engage with the residents on a variety of levels every day.
Berit has a Bachelor of Science Degree from The University of Minnesota. Her love for the older adult population developed in High School when she was an Activity Aide in a small skilled care facility. Berit strives to not only create a positive living experience for the residents, but also encourages Body, Mind, and Spiritual growth through varied active living engagement activities. These can include: strength, movement and balance exercise classes, arts and crafts, baking, games, music, therapy animals, nature/gardening, guest entertainment and community outings to name a few. Working with and caring about the older adult population for over 20 years has been a real passion for Berit. Making days and moments great are daily goals in addition to caring for the emotional health of the residents. She is available to be their confidant, trouble shooter, one-on-one companion, and friend. In her off time, Berit enjoys time in the country with her husband of 30 years, three almost adult children, dogs and chickens. She loves a new travel experience, staying active cross country skiing, playing with her dogs, gardening, cooking, being creative, swimming and lounging by the pool. Berit is very proud to be part of The Red Cedar Canyon Team!

Director of Community Outreach
Deb joined the Red Cedar Canyon team as Director of Community Outreach in July of 2021. She has been working in healthcare sales and marketing for over 30 years with the last 8 years focusing on positions held in senior housing and home health services. She found her passion in working with the senior population as Director of Sales and Outreach at a continuing care retirement community after 23 years in medical device sales.
Deb’s commitment for helping our seniors extends far beyond her work week. She’s been an active volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association MN/ND chapter for 6 years and truly enjoys spending her time as a Marketing Committee member where she assists in organizing and participating in the annual Minneapolis “Walk to End Alzheimer’s”.
Outside of Deb’s work and volunteer schedule she enjoys traveling with her family, hiking, kayaking, gardening and most of all spending time with her 1st grandchild. She was so elated when her son and daughter-in-law moved back to MN from Chicago, IL after the birth of their son to be closer to family. She also enjoys spending time visiting her daughter who lives in Seattle. Deb is also known by her family

Larry is originally from Southern California where he was raised at an early age as the “little helper” in the kitchen with his family. As a teen he broadened his experience in his brothers Pizza Parlor where he found a true passion for the culinary arts. After his teen years, and as a young adult, he found himself working with a handful of world renowned chefs who mentored him in what would be a culinary journey for life.
Larry eventually moved to Minnesota to raise his own family. While raising his family, his career moved him toward the Higher Education Sector around the Twin Cities. Larry was the Executive Chef for University St. Thomas, St Catherine’s University & Hamline University. Over the years, he genuinely enjoyed working with his culinary teams which included student workers. Larry’s mission was to create a memorable dining experience for the campus community and perhaps more importantly, help young adults grow while creating positive experiences for them so they become ambitious and passionate in their own careers.
A couple years ago, Larry changed direction from cooking for students to cooking for seniors. He felt it was another culinary calling that needed to be fulfilled for the better of the common good. Larry brings to our community a tremendous amount of culinary talent and management experience. Larry loves to cook and work with his team to create meals which are nourishing and full of flavor.
Larry has excellent rapport with the residents at Red Cedar Canyon, and looks forward to ensuring a wonderful dining experience day-in and day-out.
